Meet Trippin, a beautiful bay thoroughbred who came to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch from the Virgin Islands in 2003. Trippin is a 23 year old, former racehorse who found himself facing an uncertain future when he could no longer run. Horseracing is extremely popular in the Virgin Islands; however, if the horse becomes injured or can no longer “earn their keep”, many have nowhere to go. When Trippin came to Black Beauty Ranch, he had arthritis and tendon damage in all four legs. With good medical care, a healthy diet and great pasture buddies, Trippin is loving his life! He and his best friend Odin are the “class clowns” of the pasture and love to cool off in the pond on hot summer days. This also helps with Trippin’s arthritis. He is a favorite among staff and visitors!
