This Brown Booby was rescued by South Florida Wildlife Center ambulance personnel. The bird had an injury to his foot due to a carelessly discarded fishing hook becoming embedded. After nearly a month of treatment and careful monitoring of his progress in the hospital, he spent another month in the outdoor rehabilitation habitat built specifically for seabirds. Damage to the waterproofing capabilities of his feathers was corrected by encouraging daily swimming/preening in our in-ground seabird pool. Once he was fully recovered, we found a perfect release site to return him to the wild, farther south of us, off the coast of Key West.
